Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain enterprise network hardware, including switches, routers, Cradlepoint devices, and related equipment.
- Perform switch replacements and upgrade legacy network switches to Extreme Networks platforms.
- Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls, including policies, security profiles, and VPN tunnel configurations.
- Implement and manage port security and network access controls to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Conduct network patching, firmware updates, and rollout of new network equipment.
- Support disaster recovery (DR) preparation, including testing, documentation, and infrastructure readiness.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues involving connectivity, routing, switching, and wireless components.
Security & Compliance
- Monitor and maintain secure network configurations following organizational security policies.
- Assist with vulnerability mitigation, firewall rule review, and network segmentation enhancements.
- Ensure reliable and secure remote connectivity through VPNs, tunnels, and secure access solutions.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Serve as a mentor to junior IT team members, providing guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network needs for ongoing projects, new deployments, and system integrations.
- Work effectively within a team environment, assisting colleagues and contributing to a positive, solution-focused culture.
- Document network configurations, processes, diagrams, and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide advanced support for escalated issues.
- Assist in planning and executing network improvement initiatives and lifecycle upgrades.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering.
- Proficiency with Palo Alto firewalls, including VPN and tunnel configuration.
- Strong experience with switches, routing protocols, and network hardware replacement.
- Working knowledge of Cradlepoint devices and LTE/5G-based networking.
- Experience with Extreme Networks switch platforms (installation, configuration, upgrades).
- Strong understanding of port security, VLANs, and network segmentation.
